Miss Chesney Garza

Dance Teacher/ Tornette Director
Hello! My name is Chesney Garza and I teach dance and the Tornettes at Ball High School. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors of Science in Dance. I began my dance training at the age of two at Carolyn Ehman's Dance Academy studying all genres of dance. I am also a proud Ball High School Alumni and I was a four-year Tornette. While on Tornettes I was Social Officer Vice President, Jr, Lieutenant and Colonel. I have always had a passion for giving back to the youth of our community. I have coached cheer for Gulf Coast Premier Football League, stage managed at Island ETC (east-end theatre company) and taught dance classes at Carolyn Ehman's Dance Academy. While at SFA, I was heavily involved in student engagement. My passion was with Student Activities Association where I was both the Special Events Coordinator and the President of the organization. I received nominations for Student Leader of the Year and The SFA Way Award. I also received the Steve Westbrook award for outstanding leadership. Once in college, I continued my dance career with the dance department at SFA studying jazz, modern, tap, improvisation, ballet, dance history and world dance. While also taking dance classes I took secondary education classes where I was allowed to experience the classrooms of Lufkin ISD and Nacogdoches ISD where I deepened my love for teaching. I want to share my leadership and dance experience to help mold dance students and the Tornettes to become ambassadors for the district while building the fine arts program in the district.
