Ms. Kat Dispensa

Resource English/English Co-Teacher/Athletics (volleyball/basketball)

My name is Kat Dispensa, I was born and raised in Galveston, Texas. I attended O’Connell High School and graduated in 2008. I went on to play college softball at Hill College for two years. In 2014, I was inducted into the O’Connell Hall of Fame for softball. After hanging up my cleats, I decided to focus on my future and I enrolled at The University of Houston-Clear Lake. I graduated from UHCL, with a Bachelor of Science and a major in interdisciplinary studies in 2014. I then completed my Master’s degree in Special Education from Lamar University in 2017. I have been a part of GISD since 2014 and I started teaching at Ball High in 2016. I am part of the Bio-Med Community at Ball High. I am certified in English Language Arts & Reading and Special Education. I am a case manager for the Special Education department and I teach English Resource (grade 9-12). I have been involved with athletics in GISD since 2014. I started coaching 7th-grade basketball and 8th-grade track. I previously worked with the Ball High softball team as the JV coach. I am currently the Ball High volleyball and basketball assistant varsity coach.
